GetGrowing courses - developed by GreenFriends in Ireland - provide the basic, practical knowledge of how to start an organic vegetable garden from scratch, in whatever space available. The course teaches you how to sow and grow, to care for, feed and protect your vegetable plants in harmony with nature. You will be lead, step by step through the adventure of raising, tending and finally harvesting your own food.
In the face of increasing food shortages, rising food prices and growing concerns about the effects of modern farming practices, learning to grow food is timely. This knowledge will not only help you become more self-reliant, but in the process, you will discover a joy that only few skills can give. You will have the satisfaction of growing, eating and sharing vegetables that are delicious and brimming with vitality, fresh from your very own garden.
Amma wants this course to be taught in every country. Two teacher training courses were held this February at her International Headquarters in Amritapuri, India, with participants from all over the world. There will be courses at the French and German centres this spring, and of course in Ireland.
